About Lauren Mark
Lauren is a Pilates Method Alliance (PMA®-CPT) certified Pilates instructor, having completed her comprehensive training with Balanced Body. Lauren believes that Pilates truly is for everyone and is committed to presenting her clients with individualized, fun and challenging classes that are rooted in the Pilates principles. Lauren specializes in teaching people who are just getting started on their fitness journey or returning to exercise after a hiatus, athletes and weekend warriors looking to cross-train and pre/postnatal women.
I have always enjoyed an active lifestyle. Ever since I was a little girl, I have loved competitive team sports like soccer and volleyball, as well as hiking, camping, and canoeing with my family. I also love to run and discovered Pilates as an excellent way to increase my strength, flexibility, and endurance.
I began my professional career in politics and government, serving in both Washington, and then abroad, when my husband’s job sent us to Europe. After the birth of my first son in 2010, I decided to transition a lifelong love of fitness and enthusiasm for Pilates into a new career.
I completed my comprehensive Pilates certification through Balanced Body and was certified by the Pilates Method Alliance (PMA®-CPT). After the birth of my second son, I realized how much of an impact Pilates had on my second pregnancy and recovery. I decided to further that knowledge by becoming a Pre and Post-Natal Pilates Specialist with the Center for Women’s Fitness.
I am a firm believer that you should never stop learning. I am a self-proclaimed “Pilates Nerd” and love to challenge myself and expand my knowledge base with continuing education from industry leaders at workshops and conferences around the world.
As the spouse of a diplomat, I have had the privilege to live and teach in Europe, Asia, and the United States. This has exposed me to individuals from every walk of life; all with unique challenges; I have trained triathletes, stay-at-home-moms, men, women, people who love exercise and people who thought they hated exercise. I have helped my clients become stronger, alleviate pain, decrease stress (both physically and mentally) and improve their overall quality of life.
I believe that Pilates truly is for everyone. Not only that, I know that Pilates makes everything else in your life better. I am committed to presenting you with an individualized, fun and challenging class that maintains the integrity of the Pilates Method.
Outside of the studio, I continue to have a very active lifestyle, chasing around two young boys. As the wife of a diplomat, I obviously love to travel, but I also love cooking, reading and relaxing on the beach. After living overseas for over a decade, we now enjoy exploring the US and spending time with family and friends in our Northern Virginia home.
